US Ambassador Challenges YALI Participants to be Key Contributors to Continental Development

The  US Ambassador to Ghana, Ambassador Stephanie S. Sullivan, has challenged participants of the YALI Regional Leadership Center (RLC) West Africa, Accra to be key contributors to Africa’s development. The US Ambassador further reaffirmed the commitment of the people and government of the United States to support current and future African leaders with dreams rooted in service above self. “Each of you will play a key role in shaping the future of West Africa”, Ambassador Sullivan added.

Ambassador Stephanie S. Sullivan said this at the closing ceremony for participants of Cohort 15 of the YALI Regional Leadership Center West Africa, Accra. The ceremony saw 125 participants complete their three-week onsite training in leadership.

The Project Director for the YALI RLC Accra, Dr. Shola Safo-Duodu, praised participants for their diligence and commitment in completing the onsite training, charging them to maintain the same momentum throughout the 12-week post-training phase. The YALI RLC Accra, according to the Project Director, had so far trained 5,302 young people in the Business and Entrepreneurship, Civic Leadership and Public Policy tracks, with Alumni of the initiative going ahead to establish enterprises and leading policy advocacy across the continent.

Outstanding participants of Cohort 15 were presented with plaques for their performance throughout the training, while participants of Cohort 14, who had completed their 12-week post-training activities were awarded with certificates of completion.
