Meet the Team
Dr. (Mrs.) Shola Safo-Duodu
Shola Safo-Duodu is an expert in strategic communications, marketing management, brand management, and leadership skills training. She has a proven track record in leadership and people management and has established credibility as an experienced and versatile management professional in her career of more than 25 years in the banking and manufacturing industries.
Shola holds a BA degree from the University of Ghana, an MA from Cambridge University and a Doctorate degree in Management from the Swiss Management Centre University. She is a Chartered Marketer by profession, a trained Performance Development Facilitator and an Intercultural Fluency Facilitator with the British Council in Ghana.
Shola is the immediate past National President of the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana, and was also a leadership and management training consultant for 2 years.
Shola is currently the Director of the YALI RLC West Africa, Accra.
Mr. Jasper Tetteh Ahafianyo
Curriculum and Content Manager
Jasper Tetteh Ahafianyo holds a Masters Degree in International Public Administration and Management from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China and Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration. Jasper worked with the School of Public Service and Governance, GIMPA as the Program Advisor in charge of Danida Fellowship Training programs, and other capacity building programs. Jasper now works with the YALI West Africa Regional Leadership Center as the Curriculum and Content Development Manager. He has over ten (10) years of teaching, consulting and advisory experiences. Jasper also has practical experience in writing teaching cases with the Beijing Case Center located at the School of Public Policy and Management, Tsinghua University.
Mrs. Carolyn J. Odonkor
Participant Affairs Manager
Carolyn has a strong multidisciplinary background in Management and Leadership. She obtained her Master of Science Degree in Management and Leadership from the East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania (USA). She also holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Degree in Management Studies from the University Of Cape Coast (Cape Coast, Ghana). In addition, she holds a Higher National Diploma in Secretaryship and Management Studies (HND) from the Takoradi Polytechnic.
Carolyn has years of experience in both academia and industry. She served as a Lecturer, (2010 – 2012) at the Greenhill College, Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). She thought Management & Organizational Behavior. She also worked as a Guest Services Associate at Courtyard by Marriott, Willow Grove Pennsylvania, USA. Until her appointment to YALI, she was the Assistant Registrar, in charge of Hospitality Services (Food and Beverage Unit) at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration. GIMPA (2013 – 2016).

Mr. Joshua Amponsah
Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist
Joshua holds an EMBA in Project Management from the University of Ghana Business School and graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor’s degree in Information Management. He has been a Project Management Professional since 2009 and has taught, consulted and trained participants from several organizations both in the public and private sectors and also at GIMPA. He is currently the Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist at the YALI Regional Leadership Center West Africa-Accra.
Ms. Adjoa Agyemang
Administrative Officer – Curriculum and Content
Adjoa holds a BA in Philosophy & Law and Society. She also holds a BA in Public Service Studies and an LLB. Adjoa has been involved in career counselling and has taught for 5 years. She currently works with the Curriculum and Content Team at the YALI Regional Leadership Center, Accra.
Mr. Richard A. Nkrumah
Information Technology (IT) Manager
Richard holds a MSc. in Computer Science and BSc. in Computer Science. He also holds a certificate in Monitoring and Evaluation. Richard has over 10 years working experience in the IT industry and also 2 years’ experience in customer service and 2 years of teaching experience in the tertiary education. He also worked as an IT Systems and Data Base developer for 4 years and is currently the IT Manager for Yali West Africa.
Mr. Matthew Cornan
Administrative Officer – Procurement and Finance
Mathew holds a BSc. in Procurement and HND Purchasing and Supply. He is currently pursuing a Master of Philosophy degree in Operations Management. He has a year’s teaching experience and another in the banking sector. He is currently working as the Administrative Officer in charge of Procurement and Finance at the YALI Regional Leadership Center, West Africa – Accra.
Mr. Gabriel Tetteh Kwabla
Gabriel Tetteh Kwabla is an Accounting professional with expertise in Basic Accounting, Business Management and Entrepreneurship, Cost and Management Accounting. Gabriel joined the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) in 2003 as a Finance staff. Over the past 16 years, he has worked on the GIMPA CIPD project, different international student projects, and is currently the Finance and Administration Manager at the YALI Regional Leadership Center West Africa – Accra. Gabriel is a Chartered Accountant (ICA-Ghana Member), holds an MBA in Finance from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and a Bachelor of Education Degree in Accounting (2003) from the University of Education, Winneba.

Mrs. Patricia Addai-Hasford is the Administrative Officer for Participant Affairs and Recruitment.
Mrs. Barbara Mends
Administrative Officer – General Administration
Barbara has been a pillar in providing education administration for the Central University for 15 years. She worked with various offices of the university including some of its high profile offices. Eight years of her stay with the university was spent with the Development Directorate where she was part of a team that supervised the construction of the university’s office complex at Miotso/Dawhenya. Barbara successfully executed some of the major assignments of the project office including test running a 450 bed hostel complex, and was the Project Manager in charge of the university’s Wetland project. Due to her intricate involvement in the affairs of the project office, she developed a passion for the industry leading her to pursue an MBA in Project Management. She joined the Young African Leadership Initiative (YALI) Regional Leadership Center (RLC) West Africa – Accra in October 2015 taking charge of the general administrative roles of the RLC. She recently acted in the role of the Curriculum and Content Manager of the RLC successfully executing Cohort 4. She was a pillar in the execution of the maiden cohort in Nigeria for the RLC combining several roles which greatly contributed to the success of the Nigeria Cohort.

Mr. James Anquandah
Corporate Affairs and Institutional Advancement Manager
James Anquandah is the Corporate Affairs and Institutional Advancement Manager at the YALI Accra RLC, where he is in charge of the partnership, Alumni, communication and other corporate affairs related portfolios. Prior to joining the YALI Accra RLC, James was the Communications and Media Specialist on the USAID Partnership for Education: Innovating Activity, where he led the production and dissemination of messages to promote home-based reading nationwide. James also worked as the Communications and Mobilization Manager at Youth Empowerment Synergy (YES-Ghana) on projects as YIEDIE, Voices of Youth, Young Peace Ambassadors and DoSomething initiatives. James holds a Master of Arts degree in Communication Studies from the University of Ghana and a Bachelor of Education in Arts, (English Major) from the University of Cape Coast.
